The short version: our apps have no accounts and no advertising. We don't ask who you are, and we don't want to know. Your location is used on your phone to work out where you are on the mountain, and it is not sent to us.

This site has no cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels and no embedded third-party content. It is served by Cloudflare, which processes technical request data such as IP addresses for security and to deliver the page. We do not receive visitor-level reports from it.
If you email us, we keep your message and address for as long as it takes to deal with it, and for our own records afterwards. We use it to reply, and for nothing else.
Our first app is not yet released. This section describes how it is built and will be kept in step with it, alongside the data disclosures on each app store.
There is no sign-up, no login, no email address and no profile. We hold nothing that identifies you as a person.
If you allow it, the app reads your location to place you on the mountain and to work out how long it takes to reach a restaurant or hut. That location stays on the device. It is not transmitted to us, not stored on a server, and not shared with anyone. You can refuse the permission and use the app by picking a resort instead. Map tiles are fetched from Mapbox, which necessarily sees your device's IP address and the area of the map being displayed; see Mapbox's privacy policy.
The one thing the app sends is a report you choose to make about a place — because opening hours for mountain huts are not available from any data provider, and the people standing at the door are the only source there is. A report carries:

No coordinates, no device identifiers, no contact details and no advertising identifiers are sent. The app filters the payload against a fixed list of those fields, and the server discards anything it does not recognise. Reports are stored by Cloudflare on our behalf and used to correct opening hours and phone numbers in the app.
The app may send us a technical description of a failure — what broke and where in the code — so it can be fixed. These carry no personal data.
We do not show ads, we do not use advertising or analytics SDKs, we do not build profiles, and we do not sell or share personal data. We have nothing to sell.
Our apps are not directed at children and we knowingly collect no data from anyone, of any age.
Reports about places are kept for as long as they are useful for correcting the data, and they are not personal data. Emails are kept for our records. There is no other store of user data.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. If you are in California, you have the right to know, delete and correct personal information, and not to be discriminated against for asking.
In practice there is usually nothing to hand over: without an account, a device identifier or a stored location, we cannot connect app data to you, and the law does not require us to collect more data in order to be able to. We are a US company and our service provider, Cloudflare, processes data in the United States and other countries. Where personal data is transferred out of the EEA or the UK, it is done under the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change matters — if we ever start collecting something we do not collect today — we will say so in the app before it takes effect.
